Big D’s Boyband Bootcamp

The Mitchell St Boyz: Chad Mojito, Buck, Lee Vitton and Big DD’s boys know how to get the party started!
Backstreet’s Back alright, and so is Darwin’s hottest drag king, ‘Big D’. After a semi-successful history as Boyz 3 2 Boyz, after the departure of Gary and Ova-EZ, the solo career of Big D has been tough, so he’s back with a bootcamp to help determine which of the new recruits have what it takes to become the Mitchell St Boyz.
Setting the scene with a brief history of the 90s boy bands, we get the anatomy of a boy band to discover the specific dynamic that makes the band successful. Important icons like ‘the dancer’, ‘the leader’, ‘the shy one’ and ‘the bad boy’.
After a brief recap of iconic dance moves that were straight out of a cheese grater interior music video from MTV, Big D introduces us to the band. Styling first, their swagger.
Lee Vitton is first on the floor with rhinestoned heels and the wickedest shag held down only by a round-the-head bandana. Showing some skin and swagger to boot, Lee plays with the audience and shakes that booty! Suave, sparkly and somehow over 6ft tall, Lee blows kisses and finds the single misses in the audience. Charm bomb activate!
Buck brings territory tough with a campfire conversation and his trusty steed. Cowboy hat and boots pair perfectly with the blue singlet and worn and torn jeans. The 5 o’clock shadow on his face shows a side to the boy band dynamic we’ve not yet seen. More man than boy but just as charming. There are stories to tell from this outback boy, and the crooning of his voice leaves you wanting to hear it.
Getting the crowd all riled up comes with the territory as Chad Mojito charms his way to the dance floor. Sequinned and sexy, the smoulder on his face is blue steel and cold as ice. If there was a boy you definitely shouldn’t take home to mum, because chances are he’d try it on with her, it would be Chad. Charming the audience with a lap dance and loving it,, Chad strips off and shows those ABS. Twerking it to the tracks, we see why all the girls were screaming!
Big D has clearly whipped these boyz into shape, so after swagger, we see their best dance moves and then it’s time to vote. Live polling didn’t quite work for this night's show, but the verdict was still in. No spoilers for who took what role in the band, but I can tell you The Mitchell St Boyz mean business; they’ll steal your heart, and your mum!
